WEDG
History
WEDG-FM
was licensed by the FCC in 1991 and took to the air on September 1, 1993. Owner Reid
Hughes told the Orlando Sentinel; ''We're going to try to have
a very fresh, new oldies sound . . . with some interspersed
personalities".
Stephen Stills
of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fame joined station personalities for a
series of events to celebrate the opening. WEDG played hits from the
1960s and 1970s. Most of the programming came via a satellite feed from Denver,
but well-known Central Florida radio personality Bobby Knight does a
morning show from 6 to 10.
