WIXC AM Returns To Classic Country     4-8-24
Thanks to Daniel Freer for letting us know that MARC Radio Group, owner of WIXC-AM 1060/105.5FM has flipped the station to Classic Country. They are playing the same format that they use in Ocala, "I Am Country".

New Moniker For WMFE     4-5-24
WMFE-FM 90.7 is rebranding and changing its name to Central Florida Public Media. The new name reflects the organization’s commitment to building on its 44 years of service to Central Florida, as well as a renewed focus on local journalism, as the only local, nonprofit news organization covering its nine-county region. The name change took effect April 3, 2024.

Help Wanted     3-29-24
WOCL-FM 105.9 is looking for the next full-time Assistant Program Director/Afternoon Drive personality. This of course is to replace the late "Domino" who passed away on March 4. 

iHeart Cuts Veterans     3-26-24
iHeart Media has cut some long time employees from Central Florida stations.
At WTKS-FM 104.1 morning co-host Carlos Navarro is let go after 20 years. Also "Wingnut'’ aka Robert Daniel who had been with iHeart for 19 years as Program Director/nights at WFKS-FM 95.1 as well as night host at WXXL-FM 106.7.

Info On Domino Viewing and Celebration Of Life    3-22-24

SOLD: WNDN-FM     3-16-24
Saga Communications is selling WNDN-FM 107.9 which is part of the Classic Rock “Wind-FM” trimulcast along with WNDT-FM 92.5  and WYND-FM 95.5. The buyer is Suncoast Radio. The deal includes the WNDN tower site.
Suncoast Radio also operates Classic Country  WLQH-AM 940/93.1FM and WZCC-AM 1240/96.3FM.

The Beach Comes To Gainesville/Ocala      3-16-24
WXJZ-FM 100.9  is becoming "The Beach 100.9". Program director Vinny Foo told Gainesville's Main Street Daily News; "We’re still a classic hit station, but the music is more a vibe and a lifestyle of the beach lifestyle, which anywhere you go to in Florida, whether it’s a lake, a spring, or the beach, you have that true Floridian vibe".

Domino Passes Away     3-5-24
Thanks to Leo Vargas for letting us know that WOCL-FM 105.9's Assistant Program Director/Afternoon host, Domino for the past 14 years, passed away yesterday, he was 61 years old. No details are available yet. Domino leaves behind 16-year-old daughter, Zoe.

Florida Broadcasters Hall of Fame     3-5-24
The Florida Association of Broadcasters have announced the nine inaugural inductees into the Florida Broadcasters Hall of Fame. The inductees will be honored at the 2024 Florida Broadcasters Hall of Fame Gala and Award Ceremony on Thursday, June 27 at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida from 6:30-9:00PM. The inductees, which were chosen on their careers being directly tied to Florida during a minimum of 25 years in the broadcasting industry. The inaugural class features:
Ann Bishop – First Female News Anchor at WPLG Miami
Bernard “Bernie” E. and Edith B. Waterman – Presidents of Waterman Broadcasting
C. Patrick “Pat” Roberts – President and CEO of the Florida Association of Broadcasters
Emerson Eugene “Gene” Deckerhoff, Jr. – Radio Play-by-play Announcer of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Longtime Voice of the Florida State Seminoles
George G. Beasley – Founder and CEO of Beasley Media Group
Johnny Magic – Host of "Johnny’s House Morning Show", WXXL-FM 106.7, Orlando
Richard “Dick” M. Lobo – President and CEO of WTVJ and Former Director of the International Broadcasting Bureau.

Congratulations To Jim Robertson     3-5-24
The Country Radio Hall of Fame has announced Jim Robertson, the former WOGK-FM 93.7 Vice President/General Manager will be inducted into the Hall this year.  

Fly 103.1 Flies Away     3-4-24
JVC Media has flipped WFYY-FM 103.1 from Rhythmic CHR to “Florida Man Radio” today. The station’s lineup currently features Bubba The Love Sponge's syndicated show from 6AM-10AM, Don Miller from 10AM-1145am, syndicated Dan Bongino Show from Noon-3PM, Shannon Burke 2PM-6PM, and syndicated Jesse Kelly Show in evenings. Former morning host Lil’ Shawn and the afternoon team of Ricky Padilla and DJ Nasty have left the company.
