Happy Birthday!          2-2-14
Celebrating a birthday today is Erica Lee, who is the creator and host of "Wake Up with Erica" on WLOQ-FM 102.5. On Thursday, Ed Tyll celebrates number 58.

President's Speakers Town Hall Event    2-3-14
Marc Bernier and WNDB-AM 1150 present a discussion and debate on the most exciting and sometimes controversial new creations; robotics and unmanned systems. Their use raises privacy questions. Designed for efficiency and for the betterment of life the usage also comes with questions about deployment. Both  guests,  Charles Reinholtz and Anke Arnaud are renowned in their fields. The Town Hall will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at  7PM in the Gale Lemerand auditorium in the Willie Miller Instructional Center on Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus, 600 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach. The program is free and open to the public. There will be a live broadcast on WNDB-AM 1150.

Split Coming Between WYGC And WTRS       2-8-14
Lance Venta at Radio Insight, is reporting a split between WGYC-FM 104.9 and WTRS-FM 102.3. JVC Media began simulcasting the stations back in June of 2013. Read the entire article and what might change at WGYC, here

New Morning Show Coming       2-8-14
Beginning Monday WHKR-FM 102.7 the new national morning show, "America's Morning Show" with Blair Garner, Terri Clark, Chuck Wicks, Erika Grace Powell and HLN morning anchor Robin Meade. The Nashville based show is being distributed by Cumulus Media. With the new morning show, Eric Deniro moves to 10AM-3PM,  Jim Callahan will be heard from 3PM-7PM.

"My Country 104.9" Becomes "104.9 Wow FM"      2-10-14
No more simulcast for JVC Media's WYGC-FM 104.9 and WTRS-FM 102.3. According to JVC they will have live and local staff.  The format will include hits from the '60s, '70s and '80s. 

Jamz Becomes 101.9 AMP RADIO     2-11-14

Today at 10:19AM, CBS Radio’s WJHM-FM continued its evolution as a contemporary music station by introducing its new name 101.9 AMP RADIO.  The station will continue to feature “All the Hits” from today’s popular artists including Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Rihanna, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry, among others. The pop station had previously been known as 102 JAMZ. “This is the next step to better strengthen our brand as a pop music station,” says Bobby Smith, Program Director of the All New 101.9 AMP RADIO.  “Exciting energy and the pulse of today’s pop music is what drives 101.9, and with our new AMP RADIO branding we’ve positioned ourselves to more closely reflect those traits.  We are thrilled about the station’s transformation and know listeners will be, too.”  Added Dave Robbins, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, CBS RADIO Orlando, “WJHM has always been a highly attractive format for young adult listeners looking to discover new music.  This latest development will increase the station’s already powerful reach with advertisers and listeners on air, online and through our mobile platforms.”

Birthday greetings go out to WTKS-FM 104.1's Philips Phile cast member Jana celebrating today. Tomorrow WTKS Monster leader, Russ Rollins will turn 49. On Saturday Capn' Chris Hill will turn 50 and Ron Bisson will turn 62. Happy birthday to you all! 

"The Beat" Comes To Orlando      2-13-14
As part of the station shake-up of stations, Clear Channel has launched "104.5 The Beat", "O-town’s Hip Hop and R&B".  The WXXL-FM 106.7 Program Director, Brian Mack will program the station. Linda Byrd said. "Plus, The Breakfast Club will bring music and entertainment to our listeners every weekday morning." The new station originates on WTKS-FM HD2.

In a shake up at Clear Channel,  WLOQ-FM 102.5 will be available exclusively on 107.7 HD2, live PC streaming and on the iHeartRadio App. If you already listen to our live PC or iHeartRadio Stream, nothing changes. WOW Takes To The Air      2-15-14
WYGC-FM 104.9, Gainesville has taken to the airwaves. Wow will be playing ’60s, ’70s and ’80s favorites. The launch has begun and they will be playing 10,000 songs in a row commercial free until March 3, when local DJs will start live broadcasts.

Congratulations Pavlina       2-20-14
Pavlina Oster, whose program “Pavlina’s Kidz Place" is heard on WELE-AM 1380, WAPN-FM 91.5 and WAPB-FM 91.7 has won a "Gracie Award". The Alliance for Women in Media announced the winners the local, online, student and public categories and the 16-year-old Florida radio talk host won in the student category Outstanding Anchor – News or News Magazine for her “Pavlina’s Kidz Place Radio Show”.  


Baldinger Returns as Predator PA Announcer      2-21-14
Kevin Baldinger, a veteran of the local radio scene, will return to the PA announcer’s booth for the 2014 season of Predators football. Baldinger says that he is excited to be the voice of "The Jungle" once again, and that he is looking forward to witnessing "The Jungle" return to its old form first hand. “I’ll be the new old public address announcer for The Orlando Predators,” said Baldinger. “The new management asked the fans what they’d like to see return to the Predators, and the fans chose me. I am humbled by their loyalty, but that is what makes the fans of the Predators so great! The fans are such an integral part of the Orlando Predators, I consider them to be the 9th man on the field.” Kevin is also heading up the internet broadcast team for the Sunshine State Conference Basketball Tournament. This is the second year he has held the position. Schools in the Conference include Florida Southern, University of Tampa, Rollins College, St. Leo and many more. The tournament will be held in Osceola Heritage Park March 5 thru 9 for both men's and women's games.

From his humble beginnings in Kissimmee at  WFIV-AM 1080,  to the halls of Rockefeller Plaza in New York where he worked on the air between Don Imus and Howard Stern, on WNBC-AM 660 to his current radio address at KLTY-FM 94.9 in North Texas, Frank shares the adventures, stories and insights that led to the spiritual truths that now guide his life.  Frankly Speaking is very much like listening to Frank Reed on the radio; it is friendly, warm, and welcoming.
