President's Speakers Town Hall Series     4-2-13
Marc Bernier's next guest in the President's Speakers Town Hall Series, on Thursday, April 4, will be Congressman Ron Desantis. The program begins at  7PM in the Gale Lemerand auditorium in the Willie Miller Instructional Center on Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus, 600 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach. The program is free and open to the public. The program will be broadcast live on WNDB-AM 1150.

WDOZ About To Take To The Air    4-4-13
WDOZ-FM 91.7 in Pierson is about to take to the air. WDOZ will rebroadcast the Contemporary Christian format of WPOZ-FM 88.3

Meet Hank 101.7     4-15-13
Thanks to Bill Watson for letting us know that WDVH-FM 101.7 has returned to a Country format. Hank was born this morning after stunting as Dance formatted "Nova 101.7".  The format is country music from the 60′s through the 2000′s.

Bob Bright Passes      4-16-13
Jim "Biff" Burns informs us of the passing of R.L."Bob" Bright, longtime general manager of WRMF-AM/FM in Titusville after being hospitalized shortly for an illness.  Arrangements are pending. He will be buried in Nashville, Indiana where he had been living after leaving Florida many years ago.

Bankruptcies Filed     4-22-13
Space Coast Public Radio Inc., the owners of the group of stations known as the Groove has filed for bankruptcy. The stations included,   WGRV-FM 93.1 Melbourne, 103.3 Palm Bay and 103.3 Cocoa Beach. Creditors meeting: May 15. Also, WNRG-FM 107.9 owners Public Radio Information Services of Central Florida Inc. has also filed bankruptcy. Their Creditors meeting will be held on May 22.

Changes Coming To WPRK?        4-25-13
Rumors are flying about a possible changes at WPRK-FM 91.5. The Orlando Sentinel has an article about the possible changes. The Daily City has published an email from the WPRK staff to the Rollins College Faculty. Read it at Daily City.com.

WDBO Becomes "News 96.5"     4-25-13
WDBO-FM 96.5 is now "News 96.5". They have dropped the long used slogan "News Talk 96.5". 


Daylon Rushing Passes     4-25-13

He started his career at fifteen years of age in 1963, and worked all over the state. WEDU, WUSF-FM 89.7 Tampa, WPKM-FM 104.7 Tampa, WYOU-AM 1550 Tampa, WALT-AM 1110 Tampa, WPAS-AM 1400 Zephyrhills, WDCF-AM 1350 Dade City, WINT-AM 1560 Melbourne, WMFJ-AM 1450 Daytona Beach, WWWW, WKKO-AM 860 Cocoa,  WFUN-AM 790 Miami, WLCY-AM 1380 St. Petersburg, WTSP-AM 1370 St. Petersburg,  WFLA-AM 820 Clearwater, WDAE-AM 833 Tampa, and WJYW-FM 100.7 Tampa. Daylon Rushing's career had him working with some of the biggest names in the business, including Mike Harvey at WFUN in Miami. Harvey’s Saturday night syndicated show is “Super Gold” broadcast live from Walt Disney World in Orlando. Daylon will go down in history as one of the most popular disc jockeys ever to work Tampa Bay. Live remotes from Ben T. Davis Beach on the Courtney Campbell Causeway are legendary. Daylon was responsible for giving a lot of young kids their start in radio. He always had time to help out folks who wanted to choose this field as a career.  


Long Time WDBO Reporter Retires      4-26-13
Dave Wahl, reporter for WDBO for the past twenty five years, has retired effective today. Dave moved to Florida from Detroit in 1982 and began reporting news in Orlando in 1988 at WDBO-AM 580 and made the transition to WDBO-FM 96.5.  While at WDBO, Dave was a winner of Associated Press and regional news awards.

WJHM-FM 101.9/WOMX-M 105.1 Program Director Bobby Smith celebrates today. WRSO-AM 810's Doc blows out 52 candles tomorrow. Buddy Pittman turns 61 on Wednesday. Also celebrating on Wednesday WHOG-FM 95.7 morning co-host Frank Scott, WKIS-AM 740 producer Chuck Agostinelli and next Saturday WCFB-FM 94.5 Program Director, Michael Saunders will celebrate. Happy Birthday to all of you!

Mel Robbins On The Move       4-28-13
Thanks to Tim Steward for letting us know that WDBO-FM 96.5 has moved The Mel Robbins Show from the 11AM-1PM weekday slot to Sunday nights at 8PM.  

WDBO-FM Adds Noon Newscast      4-29-13
WDBO-FM 96.5 will pick up the extra hour of the Herman Cain Show and then will go into the "96.5 Noon News" from noon until 1PM followed by Clark Howard

New Manager for CC Cluster      4-30-13
Clear Channel Media and Entertainment announced the appointment of Tom Davis as Vice President/Market Manager for the Melbourne three station cluster. He will lead and manage Melbourne’s WMMB-AM 1240WFKS-FM 95.1 and WLRQ-FM  99.3.
