WNZF And Flagler Humane Society Team Up
     7-3-12
WNZF-AM 1550/FM 106.3 and the Flagler Humane Society are pleased to announce a new radio show called, "Speaking of Animals” and hosted by Board Member Nicole Brose.  The show will be broadcast each Saturday from 8AM-8:30AM. The program will cover an array of animal interest points each week.  

Dean O'Neal Award Finalist    7-5-12
The 2012 Christian Music Broadcasters Awards finalists have been announced.  WPOZ-FM 88.3's Dean O'Neal is a finalist for the Scott Campbell Industry Achievement Award. The award is  presented to a Christian Broadcaster or associated professional for outstanding and long-term contributions to the growth of Christian Music Radio. 

Birthdays This Week...    7-8-12
Happy 71st Birthday to Ken Dixon today. Celebrating on Monday; Black Crow President, Mike Linn, news reporter Rozzie Franco and CFLRadioveteran, Shadow (Rod Grant). Blowing out the candles on Tuesday will be Drew Garabo, now over in Tampa, who turns 43. Doing the happy dance on Friday is Bob Nyles. Happy Birthday to all of you!

Debbie Morel Announces Retirement    7-9-12
Cox Media Group Orlando Vice President & General Manager, Debbie Morel will retire from the company later this summer after 28 years of service. “To say that Debbie is an integral part of the development of our people and our culture is an understatement,” said CMG Orlando VP and Market Manager Susan Larkin.  “Throughout her career, with Cox Radio in Chicago and Orlando, Debbie has personified passion, vision and excellence in her approach to developing our businesses and especially our talent.  Debbie’s leadership, creativity, enthusiasm and seemingly endless energy have been the genesis for many of our most successful and loved brands and initiatives.” Morel is a member of American Women in Radio and Television, served on the Board for the American Cancer Society, and has mentored several Cox Employees over the years.

Tiffany And Dollface Makes A Monster Move     7-9-12
Tiffany Martin
, who joined the WTKS-FM 104.1 Monsters in 2006 has announced her departure from the morning show. She and the band Dollface will be headed to Los Angeles to pursue their musical career. 

Bauman Joins "The Team"    7-10-12 
Genesis Communications I announced today that they have signed David Baumann, the Central Florida News 13 sports anchor/reporter as the new 9AM-11AM weekday host at WHOO-AM 1080. "David's riveting personality will bring lively and entertaining radio to ESPN 1080 and SportsTalkFlorida.com. His regular guests will include 1080 The Team Insiders, big name guests, and Florida area sports athletes and personalities," said VP/Programming Len Weiner. "David will make for great radio that Central Florida sports fans will love."

Daytona Beach News     7-10-12
Thanks to Tim Steward for this info on WROD-AM 1340 and now  their translator WROD-FM 104.7. According to Tim "...They hit the air last Monday and sound great! They now call themselves "Radio Over Daytona". Also, WIKD-FM  99.1 from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has moved to 102.5. The station is live at night, most of the day is automated.

Baldinger And WRSO Announce New Program       7-11-12
WRSO-AM 810 and Baldinger Productions have agreed to terms and will work together on a new show. “The Sideline” will air every Saturday and Sunday between 8AM and 10AM. The Saturday show will update local high school sports and Sunday will cover Florida colleges. Both shows will bring you up to date on the local amateur sports scene and will be hosted by Kevin Baldinger, Kevin Lewis and on Saturdays, Corey Dickerson. The shows will feature local student athletes, coaches, administrators, and media members who cover the teams. Both shows will work closely with ES3 Playbook a local sports magazine that covers amateur sports. 

Andrew Has Left The Building     7-12-12
Andrew (Silanskas) has parted company with WKZY-FM 106.9 after two years. Andrew was the night time host, the local producer for  the "Kidd Kraddick Show" , as well as the graphic designer for the Marc Radio Gainesville cluster.

KIX Country on The Way    7-13-12
Beginning Aug 1, 2012 a new country station will be taking to the air out of Palm Coast.
WAKX-FM 98.7  "Kix Country" will  be up and running. Flagler County Broadcasting is the owner.

A Tie At #1       7-13-12
After taking the top spot four times in a row, WPOZ-FM 88.3 has tied with WOMX-FM 105.1 in the latest Arbitron ratings. Radio-Info has all the ratings here.

WRSO Partners With Yahoo Sports     7-16-12
"The station has signed on to become a full time Yahoo Sports Radio affiliate that will mix nicely with our local slate of personalities in the Orlando, Florida radio market. Blending current Yahoo Sports Radio talent such as Tim Brando, Steve Czaban, Travis Rodgers, John Harris, Doug Russell, and Craig Shemon with our local hosts Doc HollidayMark Fererra and John Pelkey and Joel Greenberg we feel our lineup will be second to none here in Orlando," stated Mr. Jan Richard, Director of Programming for Rivalz. Mr. Richard adds, "The decision to become a full time Yahoo Affiliate was a no-brainer. Their interest and support from Yahoo Sports Radio for WRSO 810 AM will only grow with time and we're excited to be part of their network and to continue on with delivering the highest quality of sports programming."

New PD For WDBO    7-17-12
Cox Media Group has announced Drew Anderssen  will be moving to Orlando's WDBO-AM 580/FM 96.5. Anderssen, comes from KRMG in Tulsa where he's been since 2000. Drew is replacing Steve Holbrook, who left Cox after 30 years.

The Groove And The City Of Melbourne Part Company    7-18-12
On June 29th, 2012... WGRV-FM 93.1 "The Groove Smooth Jazz", was informed that after 10 years of broadcasting from the City Of Melbourne's water tower site that their our antenna tower lease will not be renewed by the City. Without a new lease or extension from the City Of Melbourne, WGRV must remove their equipment from the site thus closing down the entire FM broadcasting operation, Internet streaming, and the ability to provide a public service to the Space Coast. The Groove is attempting to raise
funds to immediately to help move this equipment  and radio station to a new location. If you want to help go here.

Bobby Smith Signs Multi-year Contract     7-19-12
CBS RADIO has inked a new multi-year contract with Bobby Smith, as Program Director at WOMX-FM 105.1 and has become the Program Director for WJHM-FM 101.9. Bobby had been the interim PD at Jamz.

John "JT" Thomas has been chosen as the wake up guy at the new country station in Palm Coast,  WAKX-FM 98.7.

WPRK-FM Slapped With Fine      7-25-12
The FCC has notified WPRK-FM 91.5 that they are being fined $10,000 for an incomplete public file. WPRK hasn’t updated the file since 2007. A public file (or public inspection file) is a collection of documents required by the FCC and must be maintained by all broadcast stations.

In the wake of an all sports format change at WEUS/WRSO-AM 810, "The Nick Carioti Show" has made AM 1190 WAMT Orlando's News/Talk its new flagship station.  NCS will premier on AM 1190 WAMT on Saturday, August 4th at 11AM.

Happy 57th Birthday to former WTRR-AM 1400 Program Director Rick Padilla, today. Celebrating tomorrow, WOCL-FM 105.9's Jack Dyer, better known as Elvis Gorbechev, who turns 67 and the man who told us every morning on WKIS-AM 740 to "Press on regardless", Russ Wheeler celebrates his 77th. Happy birthday to you all.
