Birthday greetings go out this week to Kevin Baldinger on Monday and to Pat Flannagan on Friday. Pat was the first and only woman to host  WDBO-AM 580's "Nightline". Have a happy to you both!

Bethune-Cookman Taking Over WELE

President Edison Jackson has announced the University will be taking over WELE-AM 1340. Big John's Goliath Radio has been  programming the station while B-CU's  application to obtain its license is awaiting approval by the FCC. The donation consists of the studios, towers and equipment to the University by Wings Communications, the current license holder. Today, Roland Via stated on his program, that changes wouldn't be coming in the near future.

Anez Moves Up      11-8-13
23 year WDBO-AM 580/FM 96.5 veteran Scott Anez will become host of “Orlando’s News at Noon”. Scott will take over the Noon newscast, allowing news director Joe Kelley to focus on hosting “Orlando’s Morning News”. Program Director Drew Anderssen plans to announce a new permanent host for the “Orlando’s Evening News” program soon. Meanwhile News 96.5 will use its current hosts and reporters to anchor the show. Anez, will continue to host his daily "ESPN Afternoons with Scott Anez" from 4PM-6PM on Sports/Talk ESPN 580, (WDBO-AM 580). 


Bob Dotson Joins Marc Bernier    11-10-13
On Tuesday, November 12, at 7PM, NBC News Correspondent Bob Dotson will be Marc Bernier's guest at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University President's Speakers Series. Bob will discuss his book,  "American Story" A lifetime Search for Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things. The event will be broadcast live over WNDB-AM 1150, and will be shown on YouTube, and Book Marc on ROKU. There will be a book signing after the meeting. From Marc; "...This is the 100th event since I started doing this in the mid 90's.  Out of that it is the 59th Town Hall in The President's Speakers Series at ERAU since Dr. John P. Johnson launched the series in January of 2010. (Our last scheduled event for the 2013 year)". The event will take place in the Capt Willie Miller building on the campus of ERAU, 600 Clyde Morris Blvd in the center of campus. Parking and admission is free.


WRSO Adds Translator      11-12-13
Carl Tutera’s WRSO-AM 810 is adding a 250 watt FM simulcast of his "CBS Sports Radio" on  a newly acquired translator at 93.1 in Orlando. 


It's Beginning To Sound Like Christmas      11-12-13
Clear Channel's WLRQ-FM 99.3 has begun to play Christmas music.

WPLL-FM 106.9 is now playing Christmas music.


Changes Afoot For WAMT        11-16-13
Thanks to a tip from reader Mark C., it looks like changes are coming to WAMT-AM 1190. They are now broadcasting  Caribbean  style music and French/English language talk. 


New Morning Co-Host For WKTK        11-17-13
Kathy Hess has joined the WKTK-FM 98.5 staff. She will join Storm Roberts on the KTK morning show.

As of October 2013, Nick Carioti, host of "The Nick Carioti Show", has moved his program to WRSO-AM 810, CBS Sports Radio.

Celebrations For WROD    11-25-13
On Tue, Nov 26 from 6PM-8 PM, WROD-AM 1340/104.7 FM  "Morning Cruise" host Tracy Dillon will be broadcasting live to help “Strike-Out Hunger” at Bellair Lanes, 2575 N. Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach. Bring a canned good or non-perishable item, to be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank, and receive two free games and a free shoe rental. WROD is also going to be celebrating its 66th Anniversary this month. Stop by Daytona International Speedway during the annual Daytona Turkey Run on Friday, November 29 from 11AM-3PM to celebrate 66 years of live and local broadcasting. "Morning Cruise" host, Tracy Dillon and Afternoon Drive  personality, Cadillac Jack will both be there. WROD-AM 1340/104.7 FM, "Hot Rod Radio", is the oldest surviving Daytona Beach radio station and first launched in 1947 featuring hit shows like “The Bob Hope Show” and “The Firestone Hour”. Now, 66 years strong, Daytona Beach's WROD Radio 104.7 FM, simulcast 1340 AM and streaming online at www.wrodradio.com, remains the only radio station accessible to Daytona Beach listeners to hear the best music mix from the 50s, 60s and 70s. WROD is the official radio station of the Halifax Harbor Marina, and The Casements Centennial Celebration.

WTKS-FM 104.1's Jim Philips turns 66 on Monday.  Patrick "Tuddle" Fowler, WTKS-FM 104.1 alumni, now at 102.5 The Bone in Tampa, turns 34 tomorrow. Johnny Magic, WXXL-FM 106.7 morning show host, turns 50 on Friday and Marc Bernier of WNDB-AM 1150 celebrates his 58th on Saturday. Happy birthday to you all.


Magic 107.7 Is On The Christmas Music Bandwagon      11-27-13
WMGF-FM 107.7 has joined other stations around Central Florida playing Christmas music.
