History of WMGG
The WMGG calls were used to keep the new format American Media was about to debut a secret. According to Program Director Bill Gable, the new format, on what would become WOCL-FM 105.9, would draw on a broad selection of rock 'n' roll and popular hits, from the 1950s through the '80s. But it would also appeal to adults. WOCL was licensed to Deland but the station's main offices were in Longwood. A staff of about 25, including four holdovers from WELE, were poised for action.
