History Of WRHB The original "Heartbeat Radio For Women" began on the eve of International Women's Day, 7th March 2005 in the Caribbean twin islands of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. This marked the birth of the world's first 24-hour radio station for women! In 2009 founder, Kiran Maharaj partnered with Rama Communications to bring "Radio for Women" to Central Florida. The format comprises Adult Contemporary, with a flavor of Pop and R&B music and throughout the day informative segments and talk shows deal primarily with issues that affect the lifestyles of women. Produced segments and talk shows include topics such as parenting, gender issues, relationship building, motivation, health, beauty, fashion, career advice, financial wisdom, culinary skills, etiquette, romance, biographies, book reviews, and more. Rama Communications owns and leases WRHB-AM 1410, Leesburg to Heartbeat Radio. FCC agents paid the station a visit back in September after receiving a complaint. They found that "no managerial or staff personnel employed by Rama were present." The rules require the licensee to have a full-time presence. The FCC found other infractions, such as missing no copy of the time brokerage agreement available for public inspection. It's also alleged that Rama hired someone to work at the station and they greeted the FCC agents on their follow-up visit in October. These actions resulted in a $25,000 fine for Rama. |
