Moves To TV   9-1-10
13 year veteran Mike Synan is leaving WDBO-AM 580. Synan will be joining WOFL Fox 35 as the station’s political and government reporter.

Jeff Poor let's us know that Cox owned WDBO-AM 580 and WFTV channel 9 are sharing the wealth. Tom Terry, channel 9 chief meteorologist is heard on WDBO and news guys Bob Hazen and Drew Petrimoulx are seen doing weekend reports for WFTV.

WKZY-FM 106.9,  Gainesville will begin to carry the syndicated Billy Bush program nightly beginning Sept. 7.

George Crossley
Hospitalized    9-8-10
Radio show host George Crossley was hospitalized Wednesday night after he collapsed at the WEUS-AM 810 studios. Stay tuned...

George Crossley Passes      9-9-10
We reported last night that WEUS-AM 810 "The People Power Revolution" co-host George Crossley was hospitalized. Crossley collapsed Wednesday at the station and died at South Seminole Hospital.  

Bob Kelley
Celebrating 20 Years    9-9-10
Bob Kelley will celebrate his 20th anniversary at WLOQ-FM 103.1 this year. Bob will also be enjoying his 59th birthday on September 10th. Congratulations and Happy Birthday Bob!


Dick Westervelt Passes     9-9-10
Richard "Dick" Westervelt, age 85 and known as the "voice of Stetson Baseball" passed away on Monday, September 6. Dick moved to Deland with his wife, Wilda, in 1953 and went to work at WJBS-AM 1490 which was owned by Stetson University at the time. 


WLOQ Sponsors Third Annual Orlando Food & Wine Fest    9-9-10
WLOQ-FM 103.1 in partnership with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association will present the annual Food and Wine Fest which will take place in downtown Orlando on Robinson Street along Lake Eola November 13 and 14. Besides featuring cooking demonstrations by local celebrity chefs on the Bright House Networks Chef’s Stage and collegiate and professional sports games in the outdoor sports bar,  national recording artists WAR, Fourplay and Marc Antoine will be performing live. Advance “click and print” tickets are available beginning September 14 at OrlandoFoodAndWineFest.com with weekend passes for $15 and single-day admission for $10.

Changes At WKZY    9-14-10
WKZY-FM 106.9
Gainesville/Ocala promotes Assistant Program Director/Afternoon talent Kevin McKay to Program Director. They have also added syndicated Kidd Kraddick to replace the syndicated Matt & Ramona Show in the morning. 

Changes At Clear Channel      9-14-10
Clear Channel will be moving its Total Traffic Network to Tampa. Kevin Baldinger, told Scott Maxwell of the Orlando Sentinel: "This looks like the end of my career in broadcasting, after 15 years on the air in Orlando as a traffic and sports reporter." Baldinger said he’s going to look for other work.”
In other WTKS-FM 104.1 news, most all of its local programming on weekends is being dropped for classic rock. 

Coffee Talk Is On The Move      9-15-10
Have you been "fatootsed" or "fablundged" with no Sunday "Coffee Talk"?  Well beginning this Sunday, our favorite Coffee Talk Lady, Liz Litterello has moved and will be heard each Sunday on WEJF-FM 90.3 from 9AM to 10AM. Sports Added On  Goliath Radio      9-15-10
WELE-AM 1380 has added college football to the weekend schedule. They carry FSU Football, Bethune Cookman University Football and coming Orlando Magic Basketball. 

WKIQ Returns To The Air       9-16-10
WKIQ-AM 1240 has returned to the air.
Rama Communications took possession of the station once again and began simulcasting the regional Mexican format of WLAA-AM 1600.

Lunch Comes 37 Years Later For These 3 Amigos    9-16-10
Dave Edwards (C), sent along this photo and told us; "I finally got the chance to have lunch with the guys responsible for me getting into radio in the early 70s. 37 years later we had lunch together in Titusville this past Wednesday (Sep 15, 2010) - Dave Edwards (L), Dave Edwards (C) and Gabriel Burton (R). It was great seeing these guys again!

Mid-dayer Ronda Jordan has left WJHM-FM 101.9. Lizzette Perez filling in as interim midday host.


Movin' On Up      9-24-10
Bobby Smith has been promoted to Program Director at WOMX-FM 105.1. Bobby will also manage WOMX's online streaming, video and new media platforms. Smith has been Assistant Program Director and afternoon personality since January, 2008.


Paul Duckworth Resigns from KLIF, Dallas       9-24-10
Former WDBO-AM 580 Program director Paul Duckworth, hired in July to program the Cumulus owned KLIF-AM 570 in Dallas, Texas, has suddenly resigned. Health concerns are the reason for his leaving after a little more than two months.  


The Revolution Is Over    9-25-10
"The People Power Revolution" ended its three year run on the Orlando airwaves Friday evening, September 24, 2010. 
John Hamilton had been hosting the nightly program since George Crossley’s death earlier in the month. Hamilton decided to end the program in homage to Crossley, who began the show in September, 2007 at WAMT-AM 1190. Hamilton remains at WEUS-AM 810 as Operations Director.
