Ken Jones, has become the new Program Director for WLOQ-FM 103.1. Ken was the PD at San Francisco's KKSF-FM 103.7.

WLBE Adds Sports Programming   6-7-10
WLBE-AM 790 is adding sports programming to their broadcast day. Sporting News Radio will be heard from
6PM-9AM with plans to add more sports during evening drive. Stay tuned...

WKIQ Goes Dark - Again    6-7-10
WKIQ-AM 1240 has fallen silent once again. O.K. Walters was the latest broadcaster to try and revive the Lake County station. WKIQ was programmed as a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week, sports radio station with an emphasis on local sports. 

George Crossley And Clive Thomas Together Again     6-10-10
Orlando radio legend Clive Thomas will be sitting in with George Crossley and John Hamilton on the People Power Hour this Friday, June 11 from 6PM-8PM on WEUS-AM 810

Daniel Dennis, of WTKS-FM 104.1's "Monsters" will celebrate his 34th birthday on Saturday, June 12. Jinx Miller "The WDVH Diva" will blow out the candles this week. Happy Birthday folks!

Jimmy Dean Passes     6-14-10
Country music legend and entrepreneur known for his sausage brand, Jimmy Dean died on Sunday. He was 81.  In 1973 Jimmy was a guest on WDBO-AM 580's Jim Turner show.

New Station for The Maximum Motoring Show    6-15-10
"Gearhead Thursday" will begin to be heard at 3:05PM starting this Thursday, 6/17/10 on WLBE-AM 790.

Shannon Burke Will Be Back    6-18-10
Scott Maxwell of the Orlando Sentinel is reporting Shannon Burke will be returning to the Central Florida airwaves. He told Scott that  the show will start in July and he's looking forward to doing conservative talk in the middays. Shannon was last heard on WORL-AM 660, in 2009.

Judge OKs Black Crow Financing Plan    6-18-10

The judge in the Black Crow's bankruptcy has approved the company's request for debtor-in-possession financing, over the objections of GE Capital. A debtor in possession in United States bankruptcy law is a person or corporation who has filed a bankruptcy petition, but remains in possession of property upon which a creditor has a lien or similar security interest.

Guetzloe Gets The Boot    6-22-10
Political consultant Doug Guetzloe has been shown the door at WEUS-AM 810. Raul Pantoja who was recruited by Guetzloe to run as a Tea Party candidate was also let go today. Carl Como, owner of WEUS, told the Orlando Sentinel that Guetzloe’s dismissal was a “ratings decision”.  A third hour of the Laura Ingraham Show will replace Guetzloe.  Como also said Pantoja was fired because as a political candidate his presence on the staff  could violate the FCC’s “fairness” doctrine, and Como said Pantoja would be rehired after the election in November.

Erica Lee Is "Woman Of The Year     6-28-10
Erica Lee former morning drive co-host on WOMX-FM 105.1 has been named the "2010 Central Florida Woman of the Year" by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Hal Bodecker's article is in the Orlando Sentinel. Congratulations Ms. Lee!

Shannon Burke Returns    6-29-10
Multiple sources tell me that Shannon Burke will be joining WEUS-AM 810 from Noon-3PM beginning Monday, July 5.Burke most recently hosted a brokered show 2-4PM on WORL-AM 660.

Mike Osterhout Dead At 61    6-29-10
Veteran radio broadcaster Mike Osterhout,  the Chief Operating Officer of the Morris Communications radio division, died of cancer on Saturday, June 26th. He was 61. Mike began his radio career at WDAE-AM 620  in Tampa. He became General Manager of WBRQ-FM and managed the station through its glory days and was a legend in Tampa radio.


We Love Brevard Coming To WMEL    6-30-10
Paul Delaney will be joined by co-host Nancy Kenney beginning on Saturday, July 3rd from Noon to 2PM WMEL-AM 1300. They will be talking about everything Space-coast and Brevard related.


Black Crow Seeks More Time, GECC Drops Appeal     6-30-10
Black Crow Media Group LLC is asking the bankruptcy court for a second extension, until Nov. 8, to propose a reorganization plan. The company said its time has been consumed with the litigation against General Electric Capital Corp. Black Crow filed for Chapter 11 protection in January just days before a hearing in U.S. district court where GE Capital was seeking to be appointed receiver following default on the term loans and revolving credit. Besides the GEC debt Black Crow owes another $6 million to unsecured creditors.
